Privacy Policy
Lode is designed around user-controlled memory. This policy explains what the app stores, when information can leave your device, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Lode is developed and published by [LEGAL NAME], an individual developer, who is responsible for this app and this policy. Contact: lode@dalfidan.dev.
Information stored by Lode
Lode stores the notes you create, audio recordings, transcripts, scanned images, titles, summaries, tags, extracted tasks or decisions, relationships between notes, and app settings. This content is stored locally in the app’s container on your device. Lode does not require a Lode account.
Speech recognition and on-device intelligence
Lode first attempts to transcribe and structure content using Apple technologies available on your device. If you enable cloud transcription and an on-device speech model is unavailable, audio needed for transcription may be processed by Apple’s speech recognition service under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. You can disable cloud transcription in Lode Settings. AI structuring and answers use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models when available.
Content you choose to share
Lode can open or share selected note content with third-party services such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Obsidian, messaging apps, email, or file providers. Nothing is sent to those services unless you initiate the action. Once shared, the recipient’s privacy policy applies.
Backups and exports
If you create a backup or export, you choose where to save or send it. Files saved to iCloud Drive or another provider are handled by that provider. Lode does not receive a copy.
Purchases
Apple processes App Store purchases and subscription billing. Lode checks your purchase status on your device using Apple’s StoreKit; the developer does not receive your purchase history, payment details, or Apple ID. If a purchase-management service is added in a future version, this section will be updated before that version is released.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
Lode does not include advertising, cross-app tracking, or a developer-operated analytics service. Lode does not sell personal information.
Permissions
Microphone access is used to record voice notes; camera or photo access is used only when you scan or select a paper note; speech recognition access is used to create transcripts; Reminders access is used only when you choose to send a task to Apple Reminders.
App lock, Siri, and widgets
If you turn on the app lock, Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode is checked by iOS; Lode only learns whether the check succeeded and never receives biometric data. If you add a note through Siri or Shortcuts, your speech is handled by Apple under Apple’s terms before the text reaches Lode on your device. Lode’s widgets and Control Center control only open the app; they do not display or send your notes.
Retention and deletion
Your content remains on your device until you delete individual notes, use “Delete All Data,” remove the app, or restore a different backup. Deleting content from Lode does not delete copies you previously exported or shared.
Children
Lode is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect children’s personal information.
